A little history: "La Pachanga" means the party in Spanish. The Pachanga is also one of the first dances to come out of Cuba. It was a singles dance that evolved when the Waltz and Son was established. When natives realized you could mesh Pachanga and Son, was the birth of Salsa. The Pachanga disappeared until recently and we are going to celebrate it, the New Year, and each other!

More details coming soon! Mas detalles proximamente!

About Our Sponsor:

Hi! My name is Nilaja, but friends call me NiNi. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana but I spent most of my life in Indiana where I graduated from Indiana University - Bloomington. While at IU, I co-founded the Upsilon Chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. with seven other women. After college, I met the Love of my life. He was an Active-Duty Soldier who has since retired. I joined the military as an Officer in 2009. I deployed a couple of times and eventually went into the Reserves and gave birth to an amazing child named Justice. My husband and I are two veterans living with PTSD and our little family is in therapy every week. This is important because therapy has allowed us to be where we are today.

The military has taken us all over the U.S. however, we have settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado where we are extremely involved in the community. I am also the Diversity & Culture Taskforce Lead for Latisha Hardy Dance & Co., where I am a member of the Adult Semi-Pro Dance Team called Lady Bosses. In preparation for my partner leaving the Military, he started a company and asked me to become the CEO since I graduated with my MBA in 2019. I now work for LiveRamp on their Customer Success Team. While my Love runs operations for Geek Free Security LLC. We are an interracial couple, navigating life together.

I am passionate about unity and community.

Thank you for coming on this journey with me!

Why I wrote the book:

After my husband's suicide attempt in 2019, I felt it was ever important for the families of Veterans with suicidal ideation, to hear the intricacies of the journey toward mental health. We have learned so much and been presented with more hurdles than help. We've had more agencies and intenties try to separate our family, than those try to support us toward a healthy journey including healing and togetherness. I've been blessed to have my tribe. And we've been blessed to have the love and long-suffering to stay together. This book is recount of all the twists and turns that came after the gun charges and domestic violence cases closed. It's also an ode to my service in the Military and how I realized my own diagnosis of PTSD after my husband began his healing after his suicide attempt.
